Former Albion Officer Eric Krause who worked for Thomas in Albion shared, “during my many visits to his office at ADPS Chief Thomas finally said to me “Eric how will your actions look in the newspaper “this chat was before the advent of social media. Chief Thomas’ words became my 11th commandment. Thank you JET2501!!!”

Albion Department of Public Safety released this statement and photo of Thomas with current Chief Scott Kipp, “It is with great sadness we announce the passing of former Albion Department of Public Safety Chief Joe Thomas. Chief Thomas served the citizens of Albion from 1987 to 1991. After leaving Albion, Chief Thomas went on to serve the citizens of Southfield as Police Chief for the next 20 years.
