On Saturday, July 30, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the area of 27 Mile Road near H Drive N in Sheridan Township to check on a subject in a vehicle. The subject was called in as ossibly unconscious, had been parked off the road for at least an hour, and brush was placed on the vehicle in an attempt to conceal it. A 19-year-old Albion man was found in the vehicle. The vehicle had been stolen from Jackson County and had several catalytic converters located inside it, which are believed to be recently stolen. The subject was identified as a person of interest in several stolen vehicles and break-ins both from Calhoun County, including many townships on the east side of the county, and Jackson County. The subject also had pending burglary warrants out of Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and was taken into custody without incident.During interviews with Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, the suspect confessed to several crimes including burglaries, stolen vehicles, and fleeing and eluding police. These crimes span multiple jurisdictions including Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police. During the interview, he provided the location of another stolen vehicle from Pennfield Township.
