I sat down with Chef Sean Hare Monday for a few minutes as he and wife Maggie and staff were putting the finishing touches on their new restaurant, Galazio of Albion. Last we talked to Sean they were waiting for their final inspection and license from Calhoun County. He proudly pulled it out showing me with a big smile on his face, they were legal, and the opening was on for Wednesday morning.

The new restaurant will open tomorrow morning and their hours will be as follows:
Tuesday through Thursday – Lunch is served 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. & dinner is served 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
Friday and Saturday – Lunch is served 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. & dinner is served 4:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M.
Sunday Brunch – 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.
Closed Monday
At this time Sean said they will be taking NO reservations since they anticipate being very busy and don’t want to disappoint patrons who show up wanting to eat. They have a private event Tuesday evening and then turn around and open to the public Wednesday.
I asked how they were all feeling on the eve of the opening. Sean said, “We are all very excited and anxious to finally meet and serve the good people of our community. We want to bring a little piece of the Mediterranean to the Mid-West”.
Now this writer was fortunate to attend the training exercise a couple weeks ago along with 50 other Albion area people and I will say the food was great. Click here to read my review of that visit. I asked what his menu will look like as he opens. “Our menu will be small but filled with quality options”, he said “these options will appeal to almost any person’s tastes. The menu will expand over time to include a lot more choices, but we will also be having Friday and Saturday specials for people to try”.
I asked him if anyone from the Gressis family is in town for the opening, he said “Asimina Gressis and Peter Gressis are here with some longtime friends who understand the kind of atmosphere and menu we are building. They are helping us train our kitchen staff to understand the flavors and history of our recipes”.
OK Albion People, you have been saying you want more food options in Albion, well here it is. Let’s support Galazio of Albion and of course continue to support all businesses in Albion.
